Sen. Feinstein suggests national buyback of guns.

By Joel Gehrke December 21, 2012
Rob: Wanted to share this information, makes me want to puke...
Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., said that she and other gun control advocates are considering a law that would create a program to purchase weapons from gun owners, a proposal that could be compulsory.
“We are also looking at a buy-back program,” Feinstein said today in a press conference. “Now, again, this is a work in progress so these are ideas in the development.”
Gov. Andrew Cuomo, D-N.Y., already discussed the possibility of a buy-back law for his state, but he made clear it would be a forced buyback.
“Confiscation could be an option,” Cuomo told The New York Times yesterday when discussing semiautomatic weapons. “Mandatory sale to the state could be an option. Permitting could be an option — keep your gun but permit it.”
Australia implemented a mandatory buyback program in 1996 following a mass shooting. “The law banned semiautomatic and automatic rifles and shotguns and put in place a mandatory buy-back program for newly banned weapons,” USA Today recalls. “The buyback led to the destruction of 650,000 gun.”

WE PETITION THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION TO:

WE PETITION THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION TO:
Deport British Citizen Piers Morgan for Attacking 2nd Amendment.
Rob:  I believe that the first amendment allows all people the right to their opinion. Morgan is just a blowhard British Citizen without a clue about what the Second Amendment means to US Citizens. British Citizen are brain washed to what it means to be able to own firearms.

“Laws that forbid the carrying of arms… disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes… Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.” Thomas Jefferson.
Petition: British Citizen and CNN television host Piers Morgan is engaged in a hostile attack against the U.S. Constitution by targeting the Second Amendment. We demand that Mr. Morgan be deported immediately for his effort to undermine the Bill of Rights and for exploiting his position as a national network television host to stage attacks against the rights of American citizens.

Question Everything?

From Rob Charny:

Those who know me know that one of the things I always ask with regards to what is published either in print and even more so what is passed along in email and on web sites. I was sent a copy of these question that may have originated on Facebook. Some have validly some not so much. As we discussed on our show with Sheriff D’Aogstini we are still in need of “real” information. So let’s look at some of these question:

Sandy Hook QUESTIONS / INCONSISTENCIES:

Question: As days have passed, key issues involving the Sandy Hook terror attack have been cited as “debunking” the “lone gunman” cover story: From a VIRAL EMAIL that is GROWING EVERY HOUR with more reasons to doubt the official story:

Rob: I am not in a hurry to point fingers to a mutable shooter scenario, at this time there is no information that would lead me to believe that there were multiple shooters.

Question: According to the official story, Adam Lanza was found with his older brother’s ID, and it was not stolen. However, older brother Ryan - whom officials say is very cooperative - claims not to have even seen his brother since 2010. Where would Adam get this ID? And why does such use not qualify as a theft?

Rob: What does the ID in position of Adam Lanza have to do with anything stolen or not? If I was his brother I’d probably deny seeing my brother for years too. Really there are a lot more important question that stolen ID such as the fact that all of the firearms claimed to be use by Lanza were stolen because the fact is that he didn’t qualify to own any firearms.

Question: According to the official story, Adam Lanza was wearing a black outfit with a mask and bulletproof vest. Why would he want to hide his identity, and why would he wear a bulletproof vest if he planned to kill himself?

Rob: Again we don’t have any idea of his mind set its all conjecture. He was a young man that may have had many mental issues.  The question really is if his mother was aware of his mental issues why did she allow him to have access to her guns?

Question: The medical examiner asserts that all wounds were caused by a rifle or other long weapon, and police/FBI say that the school was littered with 223 (rifle) casings. However, Adam Lanza was found dead at the school with only handguns - a rifle was found in the trunk of his car. Then he could not have possibly been firing the rifle, and could not have committed the murders. Who did then?

Rob: Now this might be a telling question. Did he indeed have a .223 cal rifle under his control or not?

Question: According to the official story, the killings was tightly confined to two classrooms. Then why were so many children told to close their eyes while leaving the building?

Rob: I wouldn’t want my children to see any of the carnage in any part of the school.

Question: Joanne Didonato, the principal’s secretary, called in sick on Friday - something she rarely does. So presumably, she must have been awfully ill. Yet she then felt well enough to give an interview. “Of all days,” she said, emphasizing the strange coincidence.

Rob: Really, what does this have to do with anything? Come on guys there are all kinds of black helicopters out there for you to find.

Question: Why were there such persistent reports that Mrs. Lanza was a kindergarten teacher, and that she died at the school when the new official story is that she was not connected to the school and was killed at home?

Rob: She was found dead in her bed with multiple wounds to her head.

Question: What happened to the report that Adam Lanza’s girlfriend and another friend were missing in New Jersey?

Rob: Haven’t heard this one.

Question: What happened to the woodsman in a black jacket and camo pants who was arrested and handcuffed outside the school? He actually shouted to parents, “It wasn’t me.” Who was he and what was he doing there?

Question: What happened to the dark van or SUV that the police surrounded in the parking lot or the maroon sedan with a blown-out back window they were on the lookout for?

Rob: No information at all on these question.

Question: The official story is that Nancy Lanza was a gun collector, who obeyed the law. But since 20-year-olds are not permitted to buy guns or ammo or carry guns in Connecticut, why would she give her “autistic” son access to both guns and ammo?

Rob: Now this really is the question isn’t it? We would not be having this discussion at all if she had secured her firearms and ammo in a safe that her son could not have access to.

Question: A child asserts that he/she heard someone say, “Put your hands up,” followed by the reply, “Don’t shoot.” This indicates that the police took a suspect into custody inside the school. But if that was Adam Lanza, how did he kill himself after that point?

Question: Another child asserts that he/she saw a man pinned down to the ground with handcuffs on. Again, this indicates that the police took a suspect into custody. If that was Adam Lanza, how did he then kill himself?

Rob: Don’t believe this story at all. Could it be a child’s imagination? Possibly because it sounds more like a line in a TV show.

Question: Is it reasonable for a geeky 20-year-old to carry two pistols and hundreds of rounds of ammunition while wearing a bulletproof vest and a mask?

Rob: Yes it’s possible, so what…

Question: Did the school have one or more security cameras? What do they show?

Rob: We may find out more about cctv video but I hope to never see the footage.

Question: Why did a police officer specifically mention on radio that “they’re coming at me through this wood” followed by a fellow officer saying, “This is it”?

Rob: During the heat of the moment an officer may believe that he is under attack. I have not heard this audio recording

Question: One officer at the school said, “We’ve got one suspect down.” Who was that? Down in this situation generally means in custody (on the ground and cuffed) not dead.

Rob: The word “down” could mean anything in this situation.

Question: Why is Adam Lanza reported to be a loner when a teenager said (oxymoronically), “[Lanza and his friends] always gathered alone in a corner in school”?

Rob: Did the press get a chance to interview other students from his school? Is being a loner mean that you have mental issues? If it does we’ll have a lot more violence…

Question: Why are Ryan Lanza and his roommates still in custody, and why are the police pretending that it is for their own benefit?

Rob: Pretending, why do you say that? Do you have information that law enforcement doesn’t? If you do please report to the authorities asap.

Question: Is it a coincidence that Nancy Lanza’s brother is Kingston Police Officer James Champion, who lives next door to the former Lanza home?

Rob: Really, what the hell does this have to do with anything?

Question: This is only a small percentage of the irregularities noted in what now seems to be more of a cover-up than investigation. In truth, the public may well just be sick of hearing stories about “lone gunmen.” Of all possible horrors, this one, even more than the Benghazi killings, is loaded with political implication, not just “gun control,” but a clear attack on the security of every American family.

The simplest thing would be to sit back and accept what we are told without examining who gains, who loses and “why now?”

Rob: Question everything but make sure you’re question are not just inflammatory but informational as well. My biggest problem is that the anti-gunners are using this tragedy to further their disarming of American citizens. I believe that all of the government paperwork to ban so called “black” weapons has been prepared way before this took place and that they were just waiting for their opportunity. It’s my understanding that a list of guns has been leak and just about every type of semi-automatic firearms is on the list. What is the intention with this list? Banning further sale, confiscation or what?  Can the Government confiscate legally purchased firearms?  Where will the Supreme Court stand on this issue? Now these are the question we need to ask.

The unimaginable horror of Sandy Hook jumpstarts another "national conversation" about firearm violence. President Barack Obama, promising "meaningful action," said: "We will have to change. ... We can't tolerate this anymore. These tragedies must end."

Let's examine four of the"commonsense" measures frequently proposed by "gun control advocates":

One, closing the "gun show loophole." What gun show loophole? Restricted from selling at guns shows prior to 1986, a licensed dealer today requires a background check whether he sells guns at a store, a gun show or the back of his SUV.

Two, banning "high-capacity" magazines. One of the firearms used by Adam Lanza was a Bushmaster .223, with a magazine that can carry as many as 30 rounds. Would there have been less carnage had he been limited to a firearm with low-capacity magazines? What is the appropriate amount of firepower? Clips with 10 rounds? Five rounds? If the idea is to reduce the lethality of the guns, what does this do to reduce the lethality of the shooter's intent?

The deadliest school massacre on American soil appears to have occurred in Chicago in 1958. A student set fire to the school, killing 92 students and three nuns. And in 1927, in Michigan, a former member of the school board set bombs at three schools, killing 45 (mostly second- to sixth-graders), including the bomber.

The Columbine tragedy could have been worse. Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold set bombs throughout the school, but only one partially detonated, doing little damage. But had the bombs gone off as intended, hundreds could have been killed.

Three, reinstating the so-called "assault weapons" ban. An "assault rifle" is one where pulling the trigger unleashes a volley of bullets, like a Tommy gun or AK-47. Since 1934, these firearms require licensing and registration. And in 1986, these weapons were banned from civilian sale. These laws remain in effect. The "assault weapons" ban did not restrict fully automatic weapons. Again, they were already under strict guidelines.

What exactly did this ban do? It outlawed certain weapons based on cosmetic features, many of which have nothing to do with the firepower or lethality. For example, the ban defined as an "assault weapon" a firearm with three or more of the following features: a folding or telescoping stock; a pistol grip; a bayonet mount; a flash suppressor; a muzzle capable of launching a grenade; and a magazine capacity over 10 rounds. It outlawed the manufacturing of 18 specific models of semi-automatic weapons.

The Bushmaster .223 was not one of the outlawed weapons.

The ban, enacted in 1994, expired 10 years later. What has been the result? Nothing. Crime was unaffected. The reason is simple. Assault-style rifles (the kind banned by the law) are rarely used in crime. Less than 1 percent of weapons used in crimes are fully automatic rifles (illegal to buy for nearly 30 years). An estimated 1 to 2 percent of firearms used in crime are assault-style rifles, like the one used in Newtown.

Four, requiring a mental health test to prevent the "mentally ill" from purchasing a firearm. The goal is to predict who will use a firearm in an unlawful way. But how to define mental illness? Is it depression? Abraham Lincoln supposedly suffered from depression or melancholia. Would the 16th president be denied the right to purchase a firearm? Do you forbid someone from purchasing a firearm if he or she is in therapy? Should a psychiatrist be required to inform the police when a client expresses anger, hatred or feelings of revenge?

Apart from the Second Amendment, how many other amendments to the Constitution will have been violated by denying someone the right to purchase a firearm because he is predicted to use the gun illegally -- based on a psych test.

So what can be done?

We can harden the target to make it more likely that the shooter will encounter resistance. We can re-examine the soundness of "gun-free" zones like schools and malls. By law and policy, these are places where bad guys know there are no guns.

Rampage school shootings in Pearl, Miss., Edinboro, Pa., and in Grundy, Va., have been stopped or minimized by citizens with legal weapons. More recently, it appears that a concealed-carry weapon (CCW) holder minimized the damage that a shooter sought to inflict at the Clackamas Mall near Portland, Ore.

Nick Meli, who has a CCW permit and was armed, positioned himself near the mall shooter. Meli did not shoot, but feels he stopped what could have been greater carnage:  "I'm not beating myself up 'cause I didn't shoot him. I know after he saw me, I think the last shot he fired was the one he used on himself."

Americans, according to criminologist Gary Kleck, use guns 2.5 million times each year for self-defense, usually just brandishing the weapon. (The attacker is wounded in less than 8 percent of self-defense cases.) Of the 2.5 million, 400,000 claim that but for their gun they would have been dead. If we're serious about "doing something," we might consider shifting the odds in favor of the good guys.
